This course is designed for youth born between April 1st 1996 – March 31st 1998 who are interested in starting their career as a referee. Your registration for the course includes insurance through ASA. During this course you will familiarize yourself with the application of the FIFA Laws of the Game for (Outdoor) Soccer within the context of small-sided soccer and also learn the principals of the Look Sharp Be Sharp program.
Participants need to be prepared for both classroom and on field activities. Please arrive a few minutes early to complete the registration process. There may be more than one class occurring at a time. Participants are responsible for their own bagged lunch for each day. You will be participating in some on field activities, please bring appropriate clothing and footwear. Upon successful completion of this course you can accept assignments as either an assistant referee or referee. Details will be provided at the Course. Participants must be prepared to attend the entire 6 hour youth (small-sided soccer) entry-level course.
Candidates who are taking the course on behalf of a CMSA club (i.e. CMCA, SWU, Rangers, etc) must indicate on the online registration form for which club (team can be entered as “N/A”). This course costs $20/participant to cover instructor and facility fees. Payment will not be accepted at the course however can be done through the CMSA office prior to the course (referees@calgaryminorsoccer.com; 403 279 8686). Classes may be cancelled or combined based upon registration numbers. A minimum of 10 participants are required for each course.
